What's this?
Published but not on the page?
Busy with nothing
The break is coming to an end and I still haven't done half the things I had planned to do, or not do. Yet it has been a good break. I have fulfiled my promise to myself that I'd go shopping and watch a movie. No, didn't have that much money to buy up jusco or parkson, but yeah, I did end up with a few things. Watched Mamma Mia the movie. First time hubby and I went for a midnight show. We thought we were not going to last past 1am but the movie was very entertaining and we had a good time. Meryl Streep singing was good to watch. The same can't be said of Pierce Brosnan. I literary laughed myself off my seat when he first sang. Imagine James Bond singing. For those who are old enough, imagine Remington Steele singing. Horrors! Just didn't work for me (sounded like Randy of American Idol). Well, whatever it is, I truly enjoyed ABBA's songs. I have always loved their songs and it was hard not to sing along or hum along the familiar tunes. Hubby had looked at me funny when I hummed along.
First day of Raya was strangely busy. I had expected to laze around at home but we went out instead. Hubby and I took our 2 older ones to Ain Bedah's house. I think Ain felt strange entertaining us. But THANKS FOR THE DUIT RAYA!!!! From Kg Tunku we went to another open house. Hubby's vet friend. Since we were already in DU area, we thought we'd go to Ikea (Jeremy's choice). No can do! The queue of cars waiting to go in was crazy. So we went to OU instead. Quite a crowd too but we managed to get parking. Walked around, then hubby took the boys to Starlight Galactica and went in with them. Me? I went shopping!!!!! Hehehe!!!! What does anyone expect? Sit in there and wait for the boys and man? Or 3 boys!!!! By the time we got home it was almost 8. We were TIRED!
On the 2nd day of Raya, we prepared to go and visit Shemariah Home in KLipis. It's a home for orphans and abandoned children. I had agreed to bake some muffins for them, so I started early in the morning, and baked 5 rounds of muffins (I need a proper, BIG oven!), then after lunch we were on our way with our church friends. The journey there was supposed to take 1 1/2 hours. Turned into a 2 1/2 journey. The road there was jammed!!!! So we had games with the kids, and sort of tea time with them. We had muffins, sandwiches, fried noodles, nasi lemak, chicken curry, lots of buns and some tidbits. It was good to see the children enjoying themselves. And it was good for our kids to see how some children live without the things they take for granted. We finally left at 6pm and it was another long drive, jams and accidents! By 7:45 we were at Senawang and decided to stop for a quick dinner at McD. Then we got home at just before 10pm. VERY tiring indeed. But it was a good day. It was good to be able to serve and give without expecting anything in return. Oh, my friend actually asked the HOME Admin to get the children to do a wish list for Christmas. Maybe we can get each of our kids to fulfil 2 kids' wishes. Which means I have to help 6 kids from the home with their wish lists! Haha! It'll be good.
Maybe if my own students don't mind helping out, they can check for things they have which they want to give away, and I can collect them for the HOME. On their list of things they need : toothpaste, toiletries, exercise books, stationery, clothes, and other daily provisions (read : curry powder, dhall, rice, oil, ikan bilis, canned food, etc). I don't know when we'll go again, but we'll try to visit them once more this year, probably December. I'll have pictures up soon.
Today, I have nowhere to go. YET! Just trying to shake off the cold that I'm having. Very mild but irritating. Makes me tired. We'll see if I will go anywhere. I still need to finish marking some papers, so it might be good to stay home and do some work. Oh I still have to finish the name list for Penang!!!! I hope the PPD people will excuse the fact that we might just have 5 weeks to do the paperwork and not a day more!!!! So, off I go for lunch now, and then ... we'll see.
